Beyond the beach, how more flights to Mombasa could fuel Kenya's tourism ecosystem

Led by Mohammed Hersi, a respected leader in the tourism realm, these tourism stakeholders stress the critical role of government intervention in streamlining entry protocols into the country.
Hersi previously chaired the Kenya Tourism Federation and currently is chairman of the Diani Association of Hotel Owners.
Their proposed approach involves endorsing Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airlines for licensed operations to Kenya Tourism Federation, aiming to significantly augment tourist arrivals.
This strategy, they argue, would stimulate a thriving local tourism economy, amplifying the region's appeal and economic prosperity.
According to Hersi, the Kenya coast is happy.
“Those flights not only support the beach resorts but also benefit camps in Amboseli in Kajiado County and even Mara in Narok including Taita Taveta. It is not just about Mombasa. Open skies is just an enabler and our national carrier and local carriers will not be poorer,” he said.
